Omar Alghabra (MP Mississauga Centre) was appointed on December 2, 2015 by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Foreign Affairs (Consular Affairs).
According to the official site of the Canadian federal legislature, Parliamentary secretaries help ministers maintain contacts with parliamentary committees and the department. The prime minister may assign parliamentary secretaries specific policy-related priorities. While overall responsibility and accountability remain with the minister, he or she may delegate specific policy development duties to a parliamentary secretary.
Omar Alghabra (Mississauga-Centre) was born in 1969 in Khobar Saudi Arabia to Syrian parents and came to Canada alone at the age of 19. He was previously a Member of Parliament from 2006 to 2008 and represented Mississauga-Erindale before the boundaries were redrawn.
On November 23, 2004, Omar Alghabra, then the President of the Canadian Arab Federation (CAF), issued a press release entitled “CAF condemns arrest of Palestinian refugee in Montreal.”
Ahmad Nafaa, a “Palestinian refugee” who was living in Montreal, was arrested by the authorities after he failed a pre-removal risk assessment and later deported from Canada. Omar Alghabra called the Liberal government, lead by Paul Martin, to reverse its decision and to let Ahmad Nafaa resettle in Canada by granting him a refugee status.
“Mr. Nafaa is a stateless person who had very few rights in his previous country of residence, Lebanon,” said Omar Alghabra. “Just last week, the Prime Minister [Paul Martin] indicated to us that he wants Canada to take a leadership role in helping Palestinian refugees. This incident contradicts his wishes.”
In the same press release, Audrey Jamal, CAF executive director, stated that “Palestinian refugees deserve to receive status in Canada.” She added, “There is a need to recognize that Palestinians are stateless, and Canada has an obligation to offer protection to these individuals.”
CAF’s press release ended with a “call on the Minister of Citizenship and Immigration to activate Canada’s commitment to end statelessness by ordering a stay of removal for Ahmad Nafaa.”
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) was originally founded to provide jobs on public works projects and direct relief for 652,000 Arab Palestinians who fled or were expelled from their homes during the fighting that followed the end of the British mandate and lead to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948.
In 2015, more than 5 million Palestinian “refugees” are registered in UNRWA (1,258,559 in the Gaza Strip, 762,288 in the West Bank, 526,744 in Syria, 449,957 in Lebanon and 2,097,338 in Jordan). The Palestinian “refugees” are the only “refugees” who are entitled to inherit their refugee status for one generation to another with no limit, even though the refugee “camps” have become for decades vibrant urban neighbourhoods.
The Palestinian Authority in West Bank, the Hamas Authorities in the Gaza Strip and all hosting countries, ban the Palestinian “refugees” from resettling outside their neighbourhoods and using them for almost 7 decades as a political weapon in their long-run strategy to effectively destroy the Jewish state by forcing it resettle in its territory millions of Palestinian “refugees” and their descendants since 1948.
The aforementioned press release issued by the Canadian Arab Federation indicates that Omar Alghabra believes that Canada should offer asylum to all 5,094,886 Palestinian “refugees” and to open the door to them to become Canadian citizens.
TSEC (Terrorism and Security Experts of Canada) Network described Omar Alghabra as a “Sharia Law Supporter.” According to TSEC Network, Alghabra openly stated that he favors Sharia Law for Ontario and that he did not believe that Hamas (Muslim Brotherhood proxy group) or Islamic Jihad were terrorist groups. Al Jezeera News Service portrayed Omar Alghabra as a “long-time personal friend” to Prime Minister Trudeau. To read the completer report of TSEC Network on Omar Alghabra click here.
